Killruddery House wedding
If you haven’t visited Killruddery House you really must. Just off the M11 in north Co. Wicklow it’s a magical old-worldly spot, perfect for a Sunday afternoon days out. Family passes give you unlimited access to all the gardens and special events throughout the year – and there is much to see and do, from the walled garden and lawns to the Tearooms and picnic and play areas. It’s really set up perfectly for families and one of our favourite summertime spots.
Wedding celebrations at Killruddery House
When it comes to filming a wedding at Killruddery, its a dream spot. Aside from being so close to home (!) there are an assortment of varied spots on the estate to get beautiful shots, while The Orangery, Dining Room, the Library and their newly renovated Grain Store all provide plenty of space and a definite wow factor for family and friends in attendance.
Wedding ceremonies are held in The Orangery – a victorian conservatory which can seat up to 180. It’s a breath-taking space, full of light, wonder and history.
Alison and Sam held their ceremony here in The Orangery last summer and it was a beautifully solemn and moving humanist affair. Drinks reception afterwards was in the open-air at the back of the house. For the couple shoot we are always spoilt for choice at Killruddery, we got beautiful shots of a very happy couple on the hill which overlooks the House and 17th Century gardens.
For the evening time we moved onto the candlelit Grain Store – think cosy rustic converted barn with open brick detail. Beautifully designed table settings greeted guests who are served food from the estate. Killruddery produces it’s own beef, lamb and pork, while much of the fruit and vegetables are also grown locally. Proper farm to fork experience, and a real treat in this day and age.
No wedding would be complete without letting loose with some energetic dancing, and Sam and Alison enjoyed a killer party afterwards in the Grain Store – a really unique spot for a boogie! Thank you to you both for allowing us to share this day!
