Summertime vibes in Tipperary
Choosing a wedding venue is probably the hardest decision to take when it comes to organising the big day. We are just too spoilt for choice in Ireland! There are a bewildering number of options available, especially as more couples opt to hold their ceremony and reception at the same location.
This kind of flexibility has many advantages, convenience of course – but the ability to plan your own ceremony in surroundings you are comfortable with, with music, readings and sentiments you have both chosen opens up a world of possibilities, and ensures you and your guests come away having experienced a truly unique and special moment.
Cloughjordan House is a little haven of family run loveliness in Co. Tipperary. Here they grow their own vegetables, run cookery classes and have an assortment of accommodation types to suit everyone in your wedding party.
We have had some wonderful days at Cloughjordan – and every wedding has been very different, indeed the owners Peter and Sarah are really encouraging when it comes to couples using their own ideas to shape the look and atmosphere of the venue on the day. The main house itself has 4 double rooms and is taken the night before if the couple wish to get ready on site.
You can hold your ceremony in the small village (Churches are a stroll up the road) or on the grounds itself – where you can choose from the lawn (in front of the house), the converted woodshed, or the forest as your venue. The smaller ballroom in the main house can also hold smaller wedding ceremonies.
The House is the focal point for the reception where the lawn plays host to drinks, canapes and games in the good weather. Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important factor for couples and Cloughjordan’s seasonal menus will appeal to many – the food on offer is really top notch, and knowing it has been grown in the next field makes it that little bit more special.
We captured Jenny and Brian’s big day and celebration at CJH last summer, and it was really one to remember. Their ceremony was held in a nearby church and we got gorgeous footage of them travelling back to the venue in style in a convertible MG. Being summertime guests were able to make full use of the lawn and outdoor games back at the reception, with most opting to make full use of the fantastic variety of accommodation options on site. We can’t wait to get back to CJH soon!
